Workshop

The Village has a large well equipped residents workshop mainly for woodwork activities.

The Workshop

Workshop4

There is a wide range of power tools such as saws, lathes, drill presses, etc, as well as hand tools for use by any resident. Much of the equipment has been donated by residents and there are large amounts of odd timber, screws, nails, etc, available.

The workshop is open all day on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with a one hour break for lunch, and is supervised by a core group of residents who attend regularly and construct various items either for sale or donation to various charities.

The core group will assist residents to repair personal  timber items where possible.

Workshop2

Apart from the regular core group, residents are most welcome to use the workshop facilities on a casual basis. However all users, both core group members and casual users, must agree to a health and safety assessment to ensure their capability to operate the power equipment safely.

There are display shelves in the main Community Centre where items made in the workshop are displayed. Moneys raised from the sale of items are donated to a range of charities.

Several of the workshop regulars have compiled a slide show of their products which is well worth a viewing. They intend to update its  contents from time to time.
Just click on the link below and you will be taken to a page where you can run the latest slide show. It also has some nice background music;
