– 2022 –
Thankfully, covid in the village has remained at fairly low levels and we were able to once again hold our annual Xmas Carols evening in the Centre. A good size crowd turned out which speaks volumes for the popularity of this annual event. Rosemary did her usual great job in organising a most pleasant evening.
Our very talented illustrator, Ted, produced another of his creative welcome signs..
The first call on arrival was to pay the entry fee. This was a charitable donation which also helped to pay for the nibbles and drinks.
And of course the second call was to select from the range of yummy nibbles and drinks that were available….
The Centre quickly filled with only a few seats available by the time proceedings commenced…
Once the participants were in place it was time to strike up the band and on this occasion we were fortunate to be visited by the Gosford City Brass Band.
They put on a great performance for us and of course they were wonderfully LOUD!!!!
Thanks go to resident band member, Richard, for arranging the band visit, it really made the night special for us…
A number of residents performed individual solo numbers but special mention needs to be made of our very own Little Drummer Boy. He does look familiar….. Love the socks….
A very Merry Xmas to all

And we are back again after Covid prevented us from staging our usual Xmas Carols last year. It certainly is good to see our events resuming again at the levels of years gone by..
Tradition dictates that this event should commence with the serving of Xmas cake and the choice of sherry or fruit punch, and so it was again this year.
The Social ladies had set out an inviting table to greet the guests with Avril and Marion serving, to Covid safe food standards of course.
While Gill, left, accepted the entry donations..
Meanwhile, Clive, the Tempo Terrific band M.C. got the band organised. A reasonable size crowd of residents, some with outside visitors, settled in to enjoy the performance.
This was not the first time the band had performed here at our village and residents were again more than impressed with the professional standard of the concert that was provided.
Judith, Mirabel and Rosemary did a great job leading residents with the carol singing.
And of course what Xmas Carols night would be complete without a visit by Santa to distribute chocolates and other tasty goodies among the crowd.
One most enjoyable segment was performed by four of the band members, all members of the same family, Dad and three children, obviously a very talented family.
The singing of the Hallelujah Chorus is always a highlight of our Xmas Carols performance and on this ocassion our three leaders were joined by several other residents.
A most enjoyable evening out in our Centre. And we will do it all again next year.

— 2019–
Another very enjoyable night of Xmas Carols was attended by over 60 residents on Monday 16th December 2019. As tradition now dictates. residents were greeted with some Xmas cake and the choice of sherry or fruit punch before taking their seats.
Rosemary once more ensured that everything ran smoothly and arranged for Tempo Terrific to play for us again.
Tempo Terrific really got our toes tapping with a good mixture of carols and other tunes.
Lyn recited a Xmas poem that she had written and Richard performed several solo numbers.
A successful final Social Committee event for 2019. Thanks go to all members of the Social Committee for their hard work during the year.
Merry Xmas to All

— 2018 —
We had another good turnout for the 2018 Xmas Carols evening, once again hosted by our very own Rosemary.
By tradition, guests were greeted with the offer of some xmas cake and a choice of either a sherry or fruit punch.
President Colin welcomed all, in particular the Tempo Terrific Brass Band, a group of some 30 plus musicians who performed for us the entire evening.
Rosemary accompanied the band as a vocalist for the carols. Richard and Joan also provided several musical interludes.
Lyn read one of her popular poems and there was another poetry reading by Peter.
Of course the highlight of the evening was a visit by Mr and Mrs Claus as they handed out bags of lollies to everyone..
Another successful Xmas Carols evening organised by Rosemary who did a great job this year by enticing a full strength brass band to join us and entertain us. I wonder what Rosemary will do next year to top that..
See you all again in 2019

— 2017 —
At this time of year many residents gather in our Centre for Rosemary’s popular evening Xmas Carols and once again there was a good turnout on Monday 18th December 2017.
Earlier, Rosemary and a her band of helpers had been over and “dressed” the stage appropriately for the evenings event.
Those attending were greeted at the door and offered a choice of a sherry or punch along with a choice of dark or light Xmas cake.

Then it was “On with the Show”.

We dont seem to have a photo of Lyn performing, but here is one of her waiting for the call.
Of course, no Xmas Carols event would be complete without a visit by the Big Man in Red handing out a range of goodies…
Thanks Rosemary for another very pleasant evening….
And a Merry Xmas to all

(WEBMASTERS NOTE — Unfortunately, I was overseas at the time this event was held and was unable to attend, so I am not able to report on it personally. As an “easy way out” I have “poached” the report produced by Dave I for the TV channel and the credit goes to him for this content. Thanks Dave..)
Heather Jesse’s son, Graham, is an accomplished musician from Sydney and joined us once again for this event. His expertise on Saxaphone and flute was most appreciated..
And of course a visit by Father and Mother Xmas was a hit with the audience..
Great to see some of younger relatives attending too…

Xmas Carols
Monday 21st December 2015
It would have been lovely to have held our Xmas Carols outside under the stars as originally planned, but a change in the weather dictated otherwise. Not to be deterred, our galant organiser, Rosemary, pressed on and the result was a most enjoyable evening inside our Centre.
A gold coin donation not only secured a seat at the event but also saw everyone enjoying a welcoming sherry and a slice of Xmas cake..
It was great to see some of the younger relatives there as well as residents..
Rosemary was assisted on stage by Richard and Graham (son of our resident, Heather) who had travelled up from Sydney. Graham is a professional and accomplished musician and his contribution was greatly appreciated.
Lynn also contributed to the evening with a reading of one of her poems.
Of course no Xmas function would be complete without a visit by the “big man in red”.
After it was over the many helpers got to relax too…
Many thanks to Rosemary for organising a wonderful evening. These events take a lot of hard work.. Notwithstanding that, lets do it all again next year..
